Type "A" - soil with high peat content, loose structure, good water retention capacity, slightly acidic (pH 5.9-6.4) and high nitrogen content. African violets, alocasia, azaleas, begonias, billbergia, boat orchids (Cymbidium), erica, gardenias, gloxinias, guzmanias, hydrangeas, jasmines, yuccas, ferns, and rhododendrons thrive in this type of soil.
